Information Folio handles
Documents and edits selected by the user are read and processed on the device. Interface preferences, recent-file paths, bookmarks, and other workspace settings may be stored locally for convenience. Offline OCR language data is bundled with the app and runs locally.
The Microsoft Store edition asks Microsoft Store to confirm trial or purchase status. Microsoft controls the account, device, commerce, and license information used for that transaction; Folio receives only the license result needed to unlock the app.
The Folio desktop app does not include developer-operated analytics, advertising trackers, or document-content telemetry. Optional website analytics described below apply only to visits to foliopdfstudio.com.
Optional website analytics
When a visitor allows analytics, foliopdfstudio.com uses Microsoft Clarity to understand website usage and improve navigation, content, and the path to the Microsoft Store. Clarity may collect page views, clicks, scrolling and pointer interactions, browser and device information, performance and diagnostic events, approximate location, and pseudonymous session identifiers. Sensitive content is masked by default.
Advertising storage remains disabled. Analytics cookies and the Clarity tracking code are not activated until the visitor selects Allow analytics. A visitor can decline or change the choice at any time using Privacy choices in the website footer. Changing from allowed to declined clears Clarity cookies and stops the analytics code from loading on future pages.
Website analytics never read or upload PDF documents, OCR results, annotations, form entries, recent-file paths, or other content processed inside the Folio desktop app. Microsoft processes Clarity data under its privacy statement.
Sharing and support
Folio sends a document to another application or service only when the user explicitly chooses a sharing or external action. The selected destination’s privacy terms then apply.
When a user chooses Contact Support or Send a Suggestion, Folio opens the default email application with a draft addressed to Folio support. The draft includes the Folio version, Windows version, and distribution channel. It does not include document names, contents, recent-file paths, or other document data. Nothing is sent until the user reviews and sends the email.
Storage and deletion
Documents remain in locations chosen by the user. Local settings remain on the device until the user clears them or uninstalls the app. Removing a recent-file entry does not delete the underlying document.
Security
Folio uses Windows application isolation, signed release packages, restricted navigation and permissions, and local processing controls. No software can guarantee absolute security; users should keep Windows updated and protect their account and device.
